Later, in class, Mr. Van Driessen is talking about Romeo and Juliet while Beavis is scribbling on his paper (and on the desk) with a red pen. He notices the blue-haired girl glancing back at him, and wakes Butt-Head up to tell him. Butt-Head suggests she is just looking at Beavis because he's weird. The girl writes a note reading "I
[S1E9] Weird Girl Time Travelers
The girl introduces herself as Glennis. Beavis is nervous but tries to act casual as Glennis whispers about how both of them are seen as weird by their peers. She shows him a drawing she did of the Metallica logo, and though Beavis remains oblivious as she tries to explain it (even though it is right on his T-shirt as it's always been), he compliments her effort, making her smile. Noticing their exchange, Van Driessen approaches Beavis and Glennis asking if there is anyone/anything they love that could add to the discussion. Glennis says there is someone, but she doesn't want to share. Beavis initially denies loving anything, but Van Driessen urges him and he admits he is secretly passionate about something. As he starts talking about it, Glennis becomes hopeful that he returns her feelings, but Beavis says it is fire he loves and she tears up in disappointment. He continues rambling about fire, with Butt-Head laughing and telling Hector that Beavis is weird.
It's a question that often keeps me up at night. A top-tier actress, a pop culture icon, a Canadian national treasure who has been relegated to girlfriend status in some of the most popular genre movies dealing with interdimensional wayfaring. She's always the time traveler's wife, never the time traveler, and it needs to stop.
And so, for the first, though not the last, time McAdams must act as the emotional pillar for a story that explores the paranormal adversity faced by a handsome white man. She does it well here, which might be why she continues to be tapped for this kind of thing. Really, it's a testament to her talent that she can convince us all to skip the large swath of the film that builds a romance between a little girl and a grown-ass man who charms her into keeping track of his spontaneous Doctor Who-like exploits so that she can provide him with clothes when he eventually pops up naked in her backyard.
In all of these films, McAdams is never once afforded the ability to stretch her science fiction limits by traversing the plane of time and space herself. Instead, she's an ex-girlfriend, a future wife, a love interest, a cheating fiancé whose life revolves around a man gifted that ability for suspiciously vague reasons.
None of the show scenes between Shae and Sansa exist in the books (though some, such as when Sansa panics upon menstruating for the first time, do occur but Shae is not involved). Nor does Cersei speak directly to Shae during the siege of the city, though she does notice her and tells Sansa that with a highborn girl, the prospect of a ransom might offer some protection from rape, but a pretty thing like Lollys Stokeworth's maid would have a busy night.
The sci-fi series follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers on the morning after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world.
